Stagecoach loop – COMPLETE

Bikepacking is exploding in popularity. Are you looking to find out what it’s all about? The popular and well-established Stagecoach 400-mile loop is mostly on singletrack and jeep roads; it starts high in the mountains in Idyllwild CA, descends through beautiful arid ranchlands and backcountry to the beaches and urban jungle of San Diego, and then heads back over the mountains and through the stunning Anza-Borrego Desert on the return to Idyllwild. This is real bikepacking (off road with tent camping!) and will be a very challenging and physical (but infinitely rewarding!) 6-day challenge. We will stay a couple of nights in hotels to take the edge off the hardcore camping experience and to allow for some showers and laundry which will be very welcome! Some of our meals we will carry with us and some we will eat in restaurants along the route. If you already enjoy bikepacking, you will love this trip. If you are looking to try it out for the first time and want to jump into the deep end of the pool, this is your chance!

You will need a hardtail mountain bike with at least 2.5” (preferably 3.0”) tubeless tires that can handle desert sand, and you will need a full set of bikepacking gear. A detailed packing list, routing information, cue sheets and other details will be provided to participants).
